Carl M. Freeman Companies Sells Cabin John Shopping Center and Mall

Carl M. Freeman Companies announces the sale of Cabin John Shopping Center and Mall to EDENS.  The property, located at the intersection of Seven Locks Road and Tuckerman Lane in Potomac, MD was one of the first retail properties company founder, Carl M. Freeman, developed and has served as the central retail corridor in the Cabin John/Western Bethesda region for nearly seven decades.

The shopping center, which opened in 1968 as an amenity to Carl’s Inverness community immediately adjacent to the property, was followed by the mall in 1978.  “Carl imagined the center as a place for the community to gather and for families to enjoy as well as shop.  It has been a constant for the community and an important part of our company legacy,” said Michelle D. Freeman, President and CEO of Carl M. Freeman Companies.  “We are very proud of what the company has done and have enjoyed playing such an important part in the growth of Montgomery County. The sale of the property will enable us to continue our work and contribute even more to the region,” she continued.

Since 1947 the Carl M. Freeman Companies have created innovative and inviting places to live, work, shop and play. The company has developed and managed more than five million square feet of commercial space for shopping center and office use, servicing more than 1.1 million square feet of retail; built award-winning beach-front and golf course communities; and developed more than 20,000 homes in 50 residential communities across Delaware, Maryland and West Virginia. The Carl M. Freeman Companies is headquartered in Rockville, MD with a regional office in Selbyville, DE.
