Clubhouse at Bayside Wins Awards for Design, Marketing

The Great American Living Awards (GALA) recently honored the clubhouse at Bayside, a Carl M. Freeman Companies property in Selbyville, Delaware, with two awards at its annual Black & White awards ceremony in Reston, Virginia.

The clubhouse at the Bayside master-planned community won top honors for Design and Architecture-Free-Standing Clubhouse and Interior Marketing- Free-Standing Clubhouse at the in-person and virtual event held Oct. 14, 2021, at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Virginia.
“We’re delighted to have been recognized for the Bayside clubhouse, one of the crown jewels of our portfolio,” said Michelle D. Freeman, CEO of Carl M. Freeman Companies. “These awards are testament to the talents of our design, construction, marketing and management teams and the excellent work they do every day.”

The $13 million facility, which opened in October 2020, offers multiple amenities to residents at guests at Bayside. Overall, designer Leslie Braun of White Orchid Design Studio LLC, chose to reflect a subtle coastal feeling by using organic elements and inspiration in wall coverings, light fixtures and flooring. Open, unobstructed spaces take advantage of the site’s views of the Bayside golf course.
The centerpiece of the clubhouse’s first floor is Signatures restaurant, which includes a 2,160-square-foot dining room and a 2,300-square-foot bar (designed to allow it to be closed off from the main dining room), as well as a common space, golf simulator and offices. Outside, visitors and members can enjoy the fresh air, beverages and golf practice in The Backyard, which includes a large bar, bocce ball court, fire pits and a short game area. At The Overhang, a heated and covered hitting bay, players can perfect their swing in comfort no matter the weather.

The clubhouse pro shop provides everything the seasoned or new-to-the-sport golfer could need, from clubs to clothing. In addition, recent renovations included men’s and women’s locker rooms with black-and-white color schemes consistent with those of the public spaces and include whimsical messages in the tile of the wet areas in both locker areas – “Queen of the Green” for the women and “Par Fore the Course” for the men. On the clubhouse’s second floor is the banquet area, which includes 3,200 square feet of banquet space and a 550-square-foot dressing area.

“Our previous clubhouse was very much a placeholder for the larger space we knew we’d need as Bayside grew,” said clubhouse general manager Brian Rashley. “The renovations and additions that culminated in our new clubhouse represent a commitment to our members and residents to offer them the finest amenities and make living at Bayside feel like every day is a holiday. We’re thrilled that GALA has recognized the hard work and dedication we put into making our clubhouse a place everyone at Bayside can enjoy.”
